Meta Marvin, founder and CEO of Wisdom Foundation and special guest join together and host
Charlotte, NC - On Saturday, February 16th, Wisdom Foundation and Heal Charlotte have partnered with local business leaders, and some of NBA’s greatest will host a unique opportunity for youth to learn about teamwork, business, philanthropy and entrepreneurship, while having an educational, yet enjoyable experience, at the Great Aunt Stella Center at 926 Elizabeth Ave.
Meta Marvin’s vision, is to infringe more than traditional thinking to future businessmen and athletes. It’s more than basketball, it’s about the community, building generational wealth, creating jobs and becoming well rounded community leaders.
Events will include a workshop at 6:30-7:15 pm with Kevin Butler, Ph.D and director of Pro Player Development & Scouting W.B.D.A, Former head coach , Phoenix Mercury, WNBA Assistant coach and Washington Wizards, NBA. Coach Butler will take time to empower and educate the youth on the importance of making good life choices, building basketball fundamentals, and developing skill set.
The workshop will be followed by at panel discussion from 7:30-8:30 pm with local business owners and youth. The reception will feature: Bluz, Charlotte Hornets Buzz Official Spokesperson and Legendary spoken word artist. The panel will focus on what it takes to mirror business with athleticism. Being able to integrate sports. Topics will include educational requirements, health and behavior, discipline, and civic involvement. Discussion will detail fundamentals relating to strategic financial planning for a career in sports. Marvin “Meta” Wilson Founder of Wisdom Foundation will facilitate the panel discussion which will also include Trevor Ruffin ( American professional basketball player, former player in the NBA- Phoenix Suns and Philadelphia 76ers and ABA), Leford Green (Jamaican Olympian) Jason Terrell (Educator and Executive Director of Profound Gentleman), Jorge Millares (Executive Director of Queen City Unity) and Kathleen Janus-author of “Social Start Up Success”, Antoinette Kerr, Author and Co-Owner of Bright and Bold Media and Daniel Sanford, 14 year old varsity player at Vance High school.
